The official newsletter of Erik Norlander, Lana Lane and Rocket Scientists

Issue #6: January 18, 2008

Caps are for emphasis only.

No table of contents which means you have to read the entire issue to find out everything that's happening. :-)

Welcome to the sixth issue our aperiodical newsletter, The Passing Parade. This issue celebrates the release of the long awaited Rocket Scientists 5-disc multimedia box set, Looking Backward, which is now shipping to RS fans around the world. We have also announced some more Rocket Scientists tour dates for 2008, and in further RS news, we have now heard our first cover version from the excellent Japanese opera company Takarazuka who performed "Revolution Road" in their fall 2007 production of "Adieu Marceille / Love Symphony"and plan to use it the song again in future shows. We are also delighted at the reception of the Lana Lane - Red Planet Boulevard album which continues to ship out of warehouse in big quantities. All of the Lana Lane studio albums have their own specialness, their own unique sound and qualities, and Red Planet Boulevard is no exception. I am so proud of the power trio that performed the instrumental tracks on this album, and of course Lana's vocals are simply spectacular. Thanks to all of the radio stations for continuing to spin tracks from this album -- we appreciate it!

Best wishes,
Erik Norlander

The acclaimed all-female Japanese theater company Takarazuka has used the Rocket Scientists song "Revolution Road" in its fall production of "Adieu Marceille/Love Symphony" which ran in Tokyo from September 21 to October 29, 2007. "Revolution Road" was used in the production alongside compositions by John Coltrane, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mercer, and Cole Porter. A live CD of the production was release on December 20, 2007.

"Revolution Road" songwriter Erik Norlander comments, "It was a real thrill to hear my music played in this context with such a lavish orchestral arrangement. I particularly enjoyed the dramatic horn parts which reminded me of the famous John Barry James Bond scores. Also, to be included in a production next to such legendary jazz composers is a tremendous honor for me."
