Welcome to the third issue of our newsletter, The Passing Parade. This issue falls on the completion of our Rocket Scientists and Lana Lane 2007 Tour that began in Rotherham, UK and ended at RoSFest in Pennsylvania. I really had a fantastic time touring with Rocket Scientists again. Over the last several years I have been playing in Europe, Japan, the USA and basically all over the world with Lana Lane and my solo project, but to take Rocket Scientists out on the road again after so much time has gone by was really a special event. Rocket Scientists has played some one-off shows occasionally, but this was the first real 'Rocket Scientists Tour' in 10 years! The Rotherham UK show was particularly memorable as that was where Rocket Scientists played our first ever concert way back in 1997. So we had a little anniversary celebration there. For the musicians themselves, I have known Mark McCrite and Don Schiff for over 20 years now, and it's so easy to play with them. Guitarist Peer Verschuren and drummer Ernst Van Ee completed the picture as our Dutch "secret weapon", and after touring with these guys for so many years with Lana and with my solo project, it was simply a natural evolution to bring them into the Rocket Scientists universe. And of course Lana made the shows extra special with her guest appearance on the last songs of the Rocket Scientists set. I hope this will be a new beginning of more great RS concert tours for the future. During the European concerts, we did a second set after Rocket Scientists where Lana performed her Lady Macbeth album in its entirety. This was kind of a logical thing for us to do since we had almost the full lineup of the studio recording there on tour: Peer, Ernst and Mark were there with us, and we even had Kristoffer Gildenlöw join us for two gigs at the end. And by now you are probably asking, wouldn't this be great to put on DVD? Well, YES, I completely agree with that, and we plan to have something released by the end of the year. The next planned release, however, is the Rocket Scientists box set which is described more in detail below. I'm waist deep in the box set project as I write this message, and I can report that it is really something special -- the new recordings in particular are absolutely incredible, and the video from the sessions looks great. 2007 began as a very exciting year for all of us in the Think Tank Media family, and the rest of year promises to be even more exciting. Stay tuned!

Best wishes,
Erik Norlander

The RoSFest show exceeded all expectations. The crowd was extremely receptive to Rocket Scientists and gave the band several standing ovations. Erik interacted with the crowd and led the show well. Don's N/S Stick work was amazing and, of course, Mark did a great job with the vox and guitar work. Guest appearance highlights were Lana's vocals along with the antics of dynamo guitarist Peer Verschuren and his showmanship. And we can't forget Ernst's theatrics with his twirling drumsticks. One of the best Rocket Scientists shows on record! Check out the Rocket Scientists RoSFest photo gallery at It's a great compilation of photos taken by many photographers at the show.

Erik, Mark and Don are currently putting the finishing touches on their forthcoming Rocket Scientists box set release which will include remastered versions of the band's first three albums along with a fourth CD of new 2007 recordings made at the same Los Angeles - area studio where the early RS albums were created. Producer Erik Norlander brought in a video crew to document the new 2007 sessions, and the musicians all sat down for a lengthy interview in front of the cameras as well. This video footage will encompass the fifth disc, a DVD, that will complete the box set. Percussionist Greg Ellis completed the RS lineup for the 2007 sessions. You'll know Greg from his work on Erik's Threshold, Into the Sunset and Seas of Orion albums along with Don's Peering Over Clouds album. Greg also played on the Rocket Scientists - Oblivion Days album in 1999, so he was a natural choice for the 2007 sessions. According to Erik, the band had a lot of fun during the sessions, and the energy level was very high. So this project promises to be a worthy follow up to the incredible Revolution Road CD  which was voted as "The Best CD of 2006" by the readers of Sea of Tranquility.

Rocket Scientists received some wonderfully supportive coverage for their Rotherham show in the May/June issue of the Classic Rock Society magazine. The band also continues to receive airplay at Epic Prog with The Lurker and was recently reviewed at as was their Belgium show. (Thanks, Hans!)
