Lana Lane Echoes from the Ocean

LANA LANE ANNOUNCES MILESTONE COLLECTION

Los Angeles Symphonic Rock Vocalist to Release THE BEST OF LANA LANE 1995-1999

(Los Angeles, 22 September 1999)

After four studio albums, two EPs, a live album and a ballad collection, Los Angeles symphonic rock diva Lana Lane will release a compilation album containing the very best tracks from her first five years of recordings.

THE BEST OF LANA LANE 1995-1999 encapsulates the singer's career with a strong and accurate musical portrayal of the artist. The album contains 11 of the best songs taken from her extensive catalog as well as a 12th bonus track: an astounding live rendition of the progressive rock staple "In the Court of the Crimson King".

All stages of Lana's career to date are represented on the album: From her powerful debut, LOVE IS AN ILLUSION, the album features the hard rock title track as well as the AOR favorite "Through the Fire". From the more experimental follow up sophomore effort, CURIOUS GOODS, the album features the Lana Lane classics "Escher's Staircase" and "Symphony of Angels".

>From Lana's breakthrough third album, GARDEN OF THE MOON, the album features the spacious "Seasons", the timelessly melodic "Under the Olive Tree" and the arena rocker "Destination Roswell". From the undeniably symphonic fourth album, QUEEN OF THE OCEAN, the album features the uptempo speed rocker "Rainbow's End" and the contrastingly eloquent cover version of Marillion's "Seasons End". From Lana's BALLAD COLLECTION comes the signature piece "Avalon" as well as another beautifully lush cover of ELO's "When Time Stood Still".

The stellar bonus track, "In the Court of the Court of Crimson King", was recorded at Club Quattro in Shibuya, a suburb of Tokyo, Japan. Lana chose to perform this track as a companion to her song "Queen of the Ocean" as a sort of "royal pairing". Extending this "royalty theme", producer and musical director Erik Norlander reworked the middle of classic King Crimson song to include a rock rendition of Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King". This new Lana Lane version of a landmark progressive rock song has become of a favorite among Lana's fans, with Lana now performing the song around the world.

THE BEST OF LANA LANE 1995-1999 is a marvelous collection of material from this breakthrough artist that is both the perfect introduction to Lana Lane for new listeners and an excellent compilation of favorites for old fans. But Lana is adamant that this album is only a milestone in her career and not a tombstone. Concerned that often a "Best Of" album signals the end of an artist's viable creativity, Lana specifically added the suffix of "1995-1999" to the album title, assuring her fans that she will produce new classic and timeless music for many years to come.
